KIDAPAWAN CITY—A total of 10 persons are tested positive of Coronavirus Disease-19 (Covid-19) from Kidapawan City and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Two of these patients come from Kidapawan City, North Cotabato, and the other eight are from BARMM.
The Department of Health (DOH) – North Cotabato named the lastest two positive persons as PH3671, a 29-year old woman who has travel history of visiting Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Davao City. The other one is PH3272, a 45-year old man from Midsayap, North Cotabato who attended the cock derby at the New Matina Davao Gallera in the second week of March in time for the supposed Araw ng Davao Celebration. About 400 “sabungero” are estimated to have participated in the said derby and are being tracked or monitored by the DOH. Both of them had confirmatory results of their swab tests from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).
One of the patients is currently under isolation at the Cotabato Provincial Isolation Center while the other patient is undergoing house quarantine together with some close members of his family who are considered persons under investigation (PUIs).
Lately, Marawi City which is part of BARMM has seven Covid-19 positive patients, 254 PUIs while 100 persons are waiting for their test results at the RITM according to the BARMM Inter-Agency Task Force Covid-19. Although there may be a slight increase in the number of infections, the total number of PUIs has decreased by 61 percent in the region.
