Laguna governor Ramil Hernandez reminded his constituents that safety protocols must still be strictly observed even now that the province is under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

He also called upon the private sector to help the government enforce social distancing in their establishments to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes several factories operating within the province.

“Hinihingan ko ng tulong ang private sector na strictly implement nila ang protocols, kasi ‘pag hindi na-implement ng maayos ito at tumaas na naman ang ating mga cases ay back to square one na naman tayo,” Hernandez said in an interview.

[I am asking for the private sector’s assistance in strictly implementing the protocols, if they don’t properly implement them, chances are our cases will go up, and we will be back to square one.]

He also said that official guidelines will be sent to all establishments and they are enjoined to follow and observed the rules.

The province has a total of 333 confirmed cases with 30 deaths and 171 recoveries.

In addition to this, the governor also gave assurance that qualified families will receive the second tranche of financial assistance from the national government.

As to Typhoon Ambo’s impact, he reported that it only left minimal damage and zero casualty in their jurisdiction. Almost all 500 families who were evacuated has returned to their homes.

“Pitong bahay lang ang partially damaged at dalawang bahay lang ang totally damaged. Sa laki ng lalawigan namin na may 3 milyong populasyon ay napakaliit lang ng damage na ito,” he reported.

[Only seven (7) houses were partially damaged and two (2) completely damaged. If we think about how big our province is, with a population of 3 million, the damage is relatively small.]
