Home religious services are now allowed in areas placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), Malacañang announced Saturday.

This is according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque who explained new ombinus guidelines on quarantine measures issued on May 16 by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.

“Pwede na rin po magbigay ng home religious services — mga pari, mga imam, mga rabbi at iba pang mga religious ministers,” Roque said in the “Laging Handa” briefing.

Roque reminded the public that although home religious services are permitted, safety protocols such as physical distancing and wearing of masks must still be adhered to.

Under MECQ, manpower recruitment and placement agencies for overseas employment are now also allowed to resume operations, but only with 50 percent work capacity. Firearms and ammunition training establishments may also resume operations “subject to strict regulation of the Firearms and Explosives Office.”

Entertainment-related gatherings are still prohibited. These include movie-watching in theaters, concerts, and sporting events.

Metro Manila and six other provinces from Central Luzon has been placed under MECQ as they are considered high-risk areas for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
