Confirmed cases of coronavirus worldwide tallies up to more than 6 million

As of writing, there were at least 6,000,867 cases of coronavirus recorded and 366,848 deaths all over the world. Europe remains the continent hardest hit by the pandemic, with 2,135,170 cases and 177,595 deaths.

The tallies, using data collected by Agence France-Presse from national authorities and information from the World Health Organization (WHO), may only reflect a fraction of the actual number of COVID-19 infections.. 

Many countries are testing only symptomatic cases.

The United States is the worst-hit country, with 1,760,740 cases and 103,472 deaths. But the virus is now spreading fastest in Latin America, with more than 45,000 cases in the last 24 hours, for a total of 944,695 cases and 49,230 deaths.

House committees to hold hearings during break
