QUEZON CITY – The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA), an agency under the Department of Agriculture (DA) has celebrated its 43rd anniversary May 30, via virtual meeting with stakeholders nationwide.

FPA Executive Director Wilfredo C. Roldan delivered a message which highlighted the agency’s accomplishments for 2019, service excellence of FPA employees, and the valuable contribution of fertilizer and pesticide industry pillars as partners in serving the agricultural sector of the country.

Part of his message says “FPA has indeed grown into a big happy family.  Anchored on the four strong pillars of our industry, namely: the stakeholders, the farmers, the academe and the FPA, we moved forward with a strong sense of patriotism in building a global institution built on good business ethics and family values; and still continue to dream of an industry where players feel truly belong, in harmony with everyone for our people.”

Before the Duterte administration, the FPA was placed under the Office of the President for whatever reason.  Under the new administration, FPA goes back to the DA, which is in the front line of ensuring food security and food safety in the country.  The agency is in full support to the Masaganang Ani, Mataas na Kita program of the DA and the 10-point socio-economic agenda of Duterte administration.

Nearly three years at the helm of the agency, Roldan had ushered the FPA into a higher level of service to its stakeholders and the country.  He instituted reforms in the agency by streamlining its services, compliance with government laws and regulations, and following international standards in the agency’s practices. “We, the FPA family, affirm our commitment to public service and development of our people,” he said.

FPA has also got an ISO 9001-2015 certification in 2019 and a recognition from the Presidential Communications Office for being Freedom of Information (FOI) compliant.  He also thanked the staff for having delivered public services required from them especially in their dream of having online transactions of FPA’s services, which was finally accomplished during the community quarantine.

“Our frontliners did it well, for the love of country and for the industry.  Whether our dedicated employees are on ‘work from home’, or under skeletal workforce, I am truly honored to say they all did it well,” Roldan said in closing.
