“Hindi naman warning, kundi pakiusap sa inyo, na sanayin natin ‘yung buhay ngayon, new… bago na talaga ang pamumuhay. Ang diskarte, maglakad, maggalaw, social distancing, hugas kamay, mask. Tapos kung maaari, limit mo ‘yung labas mo.”

This was President Rodrigo Duterte’s message to Filipinos who are currently adjusting to the new way of life in the midst of the global pandemic.

[This is not a warning, but rather an appeal to you, that you should get used to the way of life we have now. It has changed. We walk, we practice social distancing, we wash hands, we wear masks. And if possible, limit your trips outside the house.]

He briefly reminded the public that the threat of COVID-19 is still present, despite the easing of lockdown restrictions in many areas in the country.

“Kasi ang COVID, nandiyan. Ready to cling to your body. Pasok ‘yan sa bunganga, ilong, mata,” Duterte said.

[Because COVID-19, it’s still there. Ready to cling to your body. It will enter through your mouth, nose, eyes.]

“Ilang beses na ‘yung warning eh, nakakainis na. But really, the danger is there. It’s up to you to decide. ‘Pag tinamaan ka, sorry,” he added.

[We have been warned many times, it’s annoying. But really, the danger is there. It’s up to you to decide. If you get sick, then you’ll be sorry.]
