Malacañang on Thursday said President Rodrigo Duterte’s performance as the chief executive of the country is generally “great” and “fruitful”, despite the insurmountable challenges his administration has faced, including the COVID-19 pandemic that shook the entire world.

According to Presidential spokesman Harry Roque, PRRD’s four years in office is laudable, and with two more years in office, Duterte can do more before vacating the seat.

“As far as the approval rating of the President is concerned, that does not drop to 80 percent, so the people approve of what the President is doing. That includes the drug campaign,” Roque said in a Palace press briefing.

“Although we’ve been hit by the pandemic, the overwhelming majority of our people support the President’s actions.”

Roque noted that even though the country’s economy took a hit from the current health crisis, the Philippines continued to maintain its good economic standing.

“We averaged 6.5-percent growth annually in the past four years, inflation is under control, interest rates are low,” Roque said.

He said the four years of the Duterte administration had been ripe with accomplishments to be proud of.

“Much has been accomplished but much more needs to be done,” Roque said.
