The Department of Health admitted Monday that it is too early to tell yet if local cases of the novel coronavirus would continue increasing, after the Philippines saw a record-high daily spike on Sunday with 2,434 new confirmed cases.
“Amin pong pinag-aaralan ngayon itong mga numerong ito — kung saan po galing, kung gaano po ang trend natin for this past week,” said Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.
[We are studying these numbers — where these came from, what our trend for the past week was.]
“Hindi pa po natin masabi kung tuloy ngang pataas nang pataas. Ang masasabi lang natin meron tayong mga nakikitang pagtaas ng mga kaso for these past days,” she added.
[We cannot tell yet if the cases will increase continuously. All we can say is we saw an increase in cases these past days.]
The time it takes for the virus cases to double remains at 7.7 days, she said.
