In a speech before soldiers in Jolo, Sulu, President Rodrigo Duterte advised his daughter Sara Duterte against following his steps and running for the highest seat in the land.
He discouraged the younger Duterte from for president in the 2022 national elections unless she truly believes she can do something to improve the lives of Filipinos.
“Sabi ko kay Inday, huwag ka mag-presidente unless you see something na kaya mo gawin para sa bayan,” he said. “If it’s just a matter of ambition, lay off. Wala ka talagang makuha diyan, pagod lang.”

Sara Duterte maintained she has no plans to run for president in 2022, although hinting she might be open to changing her mind.
PRRD is known for denying his plans to run for presidential elections back in 2016, but ultimately went for it and won the top national post.
