Northern Samar 1st district Rep. Paul Daza has filed a bill seeking to establish a provincial office of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in the province of Northern Samar in a bid to improve the delivery of educational services and make it available to his constituents.
House Bill No. 7020 cited the need for the government to protect and promote the right of all citizens to quality education at all levels and make education accessible to all.
“If this billl will be passed into law, the people of Northern Samar will have an easier access to CHED for their educational concerns such as, but not limited to, applying or following up for student financial assistance and grants,” Daza said.
The proposed CHED Office, to be established in the municipality of Catarman, shall exercise jurisdiction over Northern Samar and shall be headed by a provincial director, it provides.
HB 7020 mandates the CHED Chairperson to immediately include in the CHED’s program the operationalization of the CHED-Northern Samar Provincial Office.
