Within 5 minutes of his 5th State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Rodrigo Duterte immediately mentioned ABS-CBN and his current rife with the media giant.

His annual address was held at Batasang Pambansa on July 27, Monday.

Once again, PRRD fired at the broadcasting network for allegedly using their influence against the then-president candidate Duterte.

“Media is a powerful tool in the hands of oligarchs like the Lopezes who use it in their battle with political figures.”

“I am a casualty of the Lopezes during the 2016 elections,” said Duterte.

The president also took a swipe at Drilon for supposedly siding with the Lopezes. “In an interview, he arrogantly mentioned, among others, that oligarchs need not be rich. Then he linked the anti-dynasty system with oligarchy and the topic was my daughter and son,” Duterte said.

During and after the House panel hearings for ABS-CBN franchise, Malacañang repeatedly maintained that the president is “neutral” on the issue, and has nothing to do with the solons’ decision.
