8 out of 24 senators logged perfect attendance in 18th Congress

Only eight out of 24 senators have completed attendance during the first regular session of the 18th Congress, a Senate record revealed.

These senators attended all 67 roll calls during the session from July 22, 2019 to June 24, 2020:

  • Senator Nancy Binay
  • Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa
  • Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon
  • Senator Sherwin Gatchalian
  • Senator Risa Hontiveros
  • Senate President Vicente Sotto III
  • Senator Joel Villanueva
  • Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri

Of the eight solons, only Sotto and Zubiri arrived on time for the start of all the sessions. Binay, Dela Rosa, Drilon arrived after the roll call four times, Hontiveros recorded three tardy attendance, while Villanueva had two.

Senators Sonny Angara, Christopher “Bong” Go, Panfilo Lacson, Imee Marcos, and Francis Tolentino attended 66 times while Senators Grace Poe, Ralph Recto, and Cynthia Villar logged 65 days.

Senators Pia Cayetano, Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III, and Ramon “Bong” Revilla were present for 63 days, while Senators Richard Gordon and Manny Pacquiao attended 66 times, with 4 absences.

Senator Lito Lapid attended 59 sessions, citing two local official missions and six abroad for his absences.

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan was only present for 58 session days. He filed two sick leaves and had three local official missions.

Detained Senator Leila de Lima recorded zero attendance as she remains detained due to her drug charges since February 2017.

House committees to hold hearings during break
