President Rodrigo Duterte is set to decide on August 31 his choice of replacement to Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) ex-president and chief executive officer Ricardo Morales, according to Senator Bong Go.

Morales resigned from his post on August 26 after President Duterte said would be “best” for the PhilHealth chief to step down from his current position.

“The president called me this early morning and told me that he has somebody in his mind to replace [Morales] and will make his decision on Monday,” Go said.

The senator however assured the public that Morales’ resignation and consequent replacement of him in the agency will not end the corruption probe on corruption allegations.

“Someone should be held accountable. We should get to the bottom of this deeply rooted and systemic corruption in PhilHealth,” he said.

The senator said investigation will not end “until the agency is cured of corruption and those responsible for the irregularities are brought to justice. It’s the money of the people. Let us give our fellowmen the rightful service that they deserve.”
