The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday has already ordered an investigation on lawyer Larry Gadon, who was caught on video without a face mask and a face shield during an interview with reporters in Manila on Thursday, for violation of quarantine protocols.
PNP deputy chief for operations Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar has tasked Manila Police District director Gen. Rolando Miranda to look into how Gadon might have violated health safety guidelines set by the government as a precaution against COVID-19.
“I have already tasked the local police commander concerned, particularly the district director of the MPD to look into this,” he said in a text message.
Gadon was not wearing any protective gear against the virus during an ambush interview in front of the Supreme Court, where he filed a petition seeking to nullify the law that renamed the Manila International Airport to Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Eleazar, Joint Task Force COVID Shield commander, criticized Gadon for defying the government’s directive requiring people to wear a face mask and shield in public.
“This kind of irresponsible statement is what is making it difficult for the government to effectively fight the spread of the coronavirus,” he said.
