Metro Manila mayors are expected to release official guidelines for early visiting in cemeteries after the government ordered the closure of all memorial parks and columbariums nationwide during Undas season.

Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez, chairman of the Metro Manila Council, said security personnel and marshals would be deployed in cemeteries to assist police in implementing distancing rules.

A 30-percent capacity limit needs to be observed by memorial parks as well.

Last week, Malacañang announced that cemeteries and columbariums all over the country would be closed from October 29 to November 4 as precaution against COVID-19.

Metro Manila local governments, however, have agreed to allow flower vendors to operate near cemeteries before the period of the closure, Olivarez said.

[LGUs will make an arrangement for flower vendors so they could sell before and after Undas. So they won’t lose their livelihood. We will also make this orderly.]
