President Rodrigo Duterte appealed to private hospitals all around the country to increase allotted beds for infected patients as cases in the Philippines continue to rise.
“I’m appealing for the country and for the people… Your help will go a long way,” said Duterte during his taped address.
“Everybody will remember someday that there is a great epidemic that passed by our lives and we were able to deal with it with a lot of mutual help,” added Duterte.
COVID-19 National Task Force chief implementer Carlito Galvez reported to the President that over 1,000 additional dedicated beds for COVID-19 patients will be available by November.
He added hospitals like Rizal Medical Center, Philippine General Hospital, and Batangas Medical Center will beef up their bed capacity for COVID-19 patients.
“It’s high time that we should modernize DOH (Department of Health). We need to modernize our hospitals,” Galvez appealed to Duterte in improving the country’s healthcare system during the COVID-19 pandemic.
