President Rodrigo Duterte will not resign from his post despite his pronouncement that he an offer to do so, his spokesman clarified.

[Duterte’s resignation did not push through. I think he won’t resign now because he only has two years left in office. He will dedicate his remaining time to really clean up government agencies.]

During his recent nation address, the president said he is sick of corruption in the government and that he offered to leave his post because of it.

The president’s recent remarks started the hashtag #PaalamDuterte in Twitter as his critics urge him to follow through with his resignation, but Roque said it was unlikely to happen.

Ang talagang frustration po niya ay talagang hindi nawawala itong korapsyon [It’s not the first time the President said that…His frustration really is why corruption won’t end],” he added.
