The House of Representatives on Tuesday, October 12, reopened plenary deliberations on the proposed 2021 national budget after Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco was elected as the chamber’s new Speaker.

The House’s official Twitter account officially confirmed the reconsidering of the general appropriations bill for 2021.

“The House reconsiders [the] second reading approval of House Bill 7727 or the 2021 General Appropriations Bill. The period of sponsorship and debate as well as the period of amendments are also reconsidered.”

Last week, ousted Speaker Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano abruptly passed the 2021 spending plan on second reading, and suspended deliberations, an act seen as a move to impede Velasco’s plan to step up as Speaker.
