The summer capital of the Philippines will welcome tourists coming from the entire Luzon again as it relaxes previous restrictions imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Baguio City’s Public Information Office posted in its Facebook page that the city’s Baguio’s “Ridge and Reef program” would now be open to travelers from all of Luzon starting October 22.

A limit of 200 visitors per day was set to control the number of tourists.

“The tourism program coverage expansion was recommended by the Baguio Tourism Council and the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio and concurred with by city health officials subject to observance of health and safety protocols against Coronavirus disease,” the city government said in a statement.

The Department of Tourism welcomed the decision, citing that the anticipated influx of tourists would help the tourism industry recover from the effects of the pandemic.
