The Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 will discuss on its next meeting the possible resumption of operations of motorcycle taxis, an official said.

Año said Congress has already passed a resolution on the matter which has been transmitted to both the Office of the President and the IATF.

Kung ma-adopt ‘yan as a resolution sa IATF, then papayagan na rin ‘yung motorcycle taxi in the near future,” Año said.

“Our IATF meeting will be on Thursday, so mata-tackle namin ‘yun… ‘Yan naman ang requirement ni(Transport) Secretary (Arthur) Tugade, ‘yung congressional resolution which is naipasa na nung October 16,” he added.

If that is adopted as a resolution in the IATF, then motorcycle taxis will be allowed in the near future. Our IATF meeting will be on Thursday, so we will be able to tackle this. That was the requirement of DOTr Secretary Tugade, a congressional resolution, which was already passed on October 16.]

The IATF earlier endorsed to the House Transportation Committee a request from Metro Manila mayors to continue the pilot study on motorcycle taxis, which expired in April. Motor taxi operations have been suspended since March, when community quarantine was first implemented.
