Despite not being able to preside in the briefing on Typhoon Rolly, President Rodrigo Duterte is closely monitoring its status from his hometown in Davao City, his spokesperson said Sunday.

His absence in said briefing led netizens to question his whereabouts while the Philippines braces itself for a strong typhoon.

Roque however explained that the weather made it impossible for the President to travel to Metro Manila. But, he assured the public that the chief executive is expected to address them soon regarding typhoon Rolly.

“Alam ko po there will be an address, hindi ko lang po alam exactly kung kailan. But the nation will find out, I will give advance notice po,” Roque said.

Typhoon Rolly has made three landfalls as of Sunday noon, with tropical cyclone warning Signal No. 4 still raised in several areas in Luzon.
