The health department’s recommendation has been heard by the President Rodrigo Duterte, as he issued an executive order mandating a price ceiling for COVID-19 test kits and services.
Executive Order No. 118 was published on Wednesday, where the President mandated the Department of Health and Department of Trade and Industry to determine the price range for the COVID-19 tests. Following the regulated price, the two agencies will also collaborate on guidelines and monitor compliance of health provides conducting such tests.
Violation of the price ceiling may have lead to revocation of licenses and accreditation.
It was in September when the DOH proposed a price cap for COVID-19 testing, urging the president to issue executive order after reports of exorbitant pricing surfaced.
