Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez, Jr. said that “realistic” schedule of mass vaccination against COVID-19 in the Philippines may not happen until the end of next year.
“Kapag nakita nating under development pa po ang mga vaccine ay baka before end of the year (2021),” Galvez said in a Thursday briefing.
[If a vaccine is still under development, then (immunization) could happen before the end of 2021.]
However, under a best-case scenario, vaccines may be available for rollout by mid-2021.
For now, the public should remain committed to following the minimum health standards to minimize risk of catching the virus, Galvez added.
He added that they are also working on a logistics plan in anticipation of an effective and safe coronavirus vaccine.
