Filipinos may not ever see a ‘harmonious’ relationship between President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo again after the president’s controversial rant against his second-in-command, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said.
Roque blamed this on Robredo’s supposedly “obstructionist” actions, claiming that the vice president’s quick response to the need of typhoon victims were done to discredit the Duterte administration.
“Binigyan na ng dalawang pagkakataon ng Presidente si VP Leni…Talagang VP Leni listened to her advisers and decided to become opposition, if not, obstructionist… Dalawang taon na lang, siguro ganyan na talaga ‘yan.”
[The President gave VP Leni two chances… but she chose to listen to her advisers to become part of the opposition, if not an obstructionist. There’s just two years left, I think it will stay that way],”
The issue started last week when Robredo, in her Twitter account, narrated the situation in Cagayan and gave updates on her team’s efforts to provide needs of typhoon victims trapped in their homes. The AFP was then seen sharing updates and reports from Robredo’s Facebook and Twitter pages about activities in these provinces.
Duterte, in his address to the nation, singled out Robredo and spent the first 20 minutes of his speech criticizing the vice president.
