Metro Manila mayors have a ‘general consensus’ in their decision to retain the general community quarantine restrictions until the end of the year, San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said on Sunday.
“We will find out later if all 17 [are in favor], but what I can say is the general consensus of [Metro Manila] mayors is GCQ,” Zamora said, adding that he personally joins this recommendation.
The Metro Manila Council is set to meet on Sunday evening to discuss COVID-19 policies, including lockdown recommendations and safety preparations for the Christmas season.
Quarantine classifications for December are expected to be announced by President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday.
The OCTA Research Team have voiced their support in retaining GCQ in the national capital region.
Zamora also advised his fellow officials to strictly enforce COVID-19 health and safety protocols for the coming month, saying that more Filipinos are expected to leave their homes during the Christmas season.
