The City Government of Baguio City has temporarily suspended the operation of night market just a few hours after its reopening. According to authorities, there were “apparent lapses” in crowd control that would compromise safety of the city.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong is said to have scheduled a meeting with local executives to conduct an assessment on the operation of the night market.

“Identify our weak points and vulnerabilities and discuss solutions. I want feedback as soon as possible,” Magalong was quoted as saying.

The reopening of the market was part of the city’s thrust to restart the economy and restore livelihood amid the pandemic.
