According to a top official, the Department of Health may complete the procurement of a COVID-19 vaccine cold chain service provider before the end of the month.
DOH Undersecretary Carol Taiño in a briefing said that awarding of the contract is expected to be processed by end of February. She noted that invitations have already already sent out to several companies with the deadline of submission of requirements set on February 11.
Around 117,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, and another 50,000 doses of China’s Sinovac are expected to arrive in the country this month.
Taiño said the government has existing contracts with other third-party logistics and facilities where these can be stored while they are completing their evaluation.
Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. earlier said that the government is in talks with 18 firms to ensure proper storage and transportation of the COVID-19 vaccines.
