The Department of Science and Technology said on Saturday that Sinovac and Clover Biopharmaceutical, China’s drug manufacturers, are in the final stage of preparation of their independent clinical trials in the Philippines.
Both Sinovac and Clover are ramping up their respective site preparations, according to DOST Usec. Rowena Guevara.
“Malapit na ring magsimula ang dalawang ‘yan,” she said during a briefing.
Last month, the two pharmaceutical firms secured the approval of the FDA to hold the third phase of their clinical trial in the country.
The official assured that the clinical trials will not affect the Philippines’ mass vaccination plan.
“Ang vaccine rollout ang pinipili ay kung sino ang babakunahan based sa priority ng gobyerno, samantalang sa clinical trial ang pinipili ang mga barangay na mataas ang may COVID-19,” she said.
