To help the Philippine economy bounce back, the Department of Health in a briefing announced its plan to vaccinate most of the country’s “economic frontliners” by second or third quarter of 2021.

“I think it will take place within the year but for as long as the sufficient vaccine supply is there. Hopefully second or third quarter,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said Thursday.

Workers in the transportation, agriculture, mining, and export-oriented industries are those who are considered to be economic frontliners.

To recall, the top priority sector according to the prioritization list of the government are healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with co-morbidities, frontline personnel working in sectors identified by the national task force as essential, and the indigent population.

The health chief assured the public that authorities are “doing everything” to fast-track the vaccine program of the government.
