President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday joked about his persistent “progressive” coughing in the middle of his address, saying that it “could be cancer.”
“Pasensya na kayo. I don’t know, but ‘yung pag-ubo ko, progressive. Baka cancer,” the president jested in his speech during the joint meeting of the National Task Force and Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict in Eastern Visayas.
The ‘cancer’ joke was met with laughs from his audience.
The president’s health has always been a hot topic throughout his term, which eventually led to a filing of a petition in the Supreme Court by a private lawyer, requiring the release of Duterte’s medical records.
