President Rodrigo Duterte wants the processing of benefits due to policemen’s widows to be simplified, reminding them that those from the provinces have a hard time fixing papers in the capital region.
“Ang practice kasi, ang mga biyuda pupunta pa ditosa Crame. I don’t know if it’s still the practice now, but if it is still the practice, I’m ordering you to cut it now,” he said during his address on Monday.
Duterte noted that widows from the provinces would rack up expenses trying to process necessary papers in Metro Manila, where they can only manage with the help of relatives.
Duterte stressed that the station commander should be proactive by informing the main office about the departed service member so that the family would not be left vulnerable.
More importantly, the president suggested that processing of such documents be done at the regional level to reduce burden on the widows of uniformed personnel.
