According to Palace spokesperson Harry Roque, President Rodrigo Duterte is set to resume his regularly scheduled “Talk to the People” public address on Monday, April 12.
This was confirmed by Roque in a text message to members of the media.
The President did not attend the Day of Valor rites on Friday and his usual weekly public address after some 120 members of his security group tested positive for COVID-19.
In recent weeks, speculation on the status of Duterte’s health had surfaced due to his absence from the public eye. He had earlier admitted he had Barrett’s esophagus, an inflammation of the tube connecting the mouth to the stomach, among others.
His former aide, Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go uploaded pictures of the President on his social media account Wednesday and Saturday, in an attempt to ease concerns and respond to criticism over the chief executive’s absence from public light.
Go previously said the President tested negative for COVID-19 during his last swab test conducted over the Holy Week.
