President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to announce the country’s new quarantine classifications for May by the middle of this week.
Metro Manila and nearby provinces: Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal provinces are all under modified enhanced community quarantine, the second strictest lockdown level, until April 30.
“Baka po si Presidente na ang mag-anunsyo dahil ang Talk to the People po ay sa Wednesday,” Palace spokesman Harry Roque responded in a briefing when asked about the new quarantine classifications.
Roque also said that the COVID-19 task force will meet on Tuesday to discuss quarantine recommendations for the month of May.
Based on the past week’s case count, the Philippines’ total tally of COVID-19 infections will likely hit the 1 million mark on Monday.
