Cagayan de Oro Archbishop Jose Cabantan said in a post on social media that the following churches will be closed starting April 28 until May 7: Jesus Nazareno Parish and San Isidro Labrador Parish both in Cagayan de Oro City, as well as Our Lady of Candelaria in the municipality of Tagoloan, Immaculada Concepcion Parish in Jasa-an, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Bobontugan, and Church of Santa Cruz in Laguindingan.

Disinfection will also be conducted in these churches during the period.

“I humbly ask for understanding from our faithful, especially those directly affected, and for prayers for our priests who have fallen victims, and that no other priest may suffer the same fate,” Cabantan said.

According to recent data from the Department of Health, Northern Mindanao has a total of 15,293 cases of COVID-19, 837 of which are active.
