The highest number of cases of COVID-19 in a single day in Zamboanga del Sur since January of this year was recorded on Sunday.
A total of 59 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease with one reinfection case was reported by the Integrated Provincial Health Office. This brought the total active infections in the area to 486.
The city of Pagadian currently has the highest number of cases in the province with 244, followed by the towns of Aurora with 29, Labangan with 24, and Tigbao with 23 cases.
Leisure venues and beach resorts are currently not allowed to operate until May 31 due to the high number of COVID-19 infections. Governor Victor Yu has enforced a liquor ban and the closure of entertainment venues, such as bars, clubs, concert halls and theatres.
