Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Friday that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases is already permitting up to 30% venue capacity for religious gatherings in the NCR Plus area under the “heightened” general community quarantine until the end of May.
According to the Cabinet member, who is also a member of the IATF, the country’s pandemic task force met with the mayors of Metro Manila, who expressed their full support for the maximum indoor seating capacity in churches.
During the announcement of the GCQ status with heightened restrictions, the government initially said venue capacity for religious gatherings would still be limited to up to 10% only.
Metro Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, and Rizal—collectively known as NCR Plus—are currently under the more relaxed quarantine status until May 31.
