MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte has approved September 13, 2021 as the start date for School Year 2021-2022, announced by the Department of Education (DepEd) on Friday.

The DepEd said in a statement that the date was one of the choices suggested by DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones.

“We thank the President for his full support to the delivery of quality basic education for the incoming school year,” the statement read.

The school calendar for SY 2021-2022 will be released soon.

“We hope for our stakeholders’ continued cooperation and support as we prepare for another challenging yet worthwhile endeavor of educating our children amid a global health crisis,” the statement read.

Schools have used a blended learning method since the pandemic last year.

The resumption of limited face-to-face classes in “low-risk” areas is still on hold.

Briones assured the public that classes would go on as planned and that no student would be left behind despite the difficulties.
