MANILA – Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday that 47 Delta variant cases have been recorded in nine cities within the National Capital Region (NCR).

The DOH claimed that Caloocan has four Delta variant cases; Las Piñas, 14; Makati, three; Malabon, four; Mandaluyong, two; Pasig, six; San Juan, two; Valenzuela, one; and Manila, 11.

“This data is vetted by our Epidemiology Bureau,” it said.

As of August 1, nine out of 17 local government units in the NCR have at least one patient infected with the Delta variant of coronavirus, according to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.

Based on its moderate two-week growth rate and high-risk average daily assault rate, the DOH categorized the NCR, Central Visayas, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Northern Mindanao as high-risk areas.

As of now, the country has 216 Delta cases — 165 of which are local cases, 48 of which are returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs), and three of which are still being verified to see if they are local cases or ROFs.
