1M doses of Sinovac supplement ECQ requirement in NCR

MANILA – The shipment of one million doses of the Sinovac vaccine arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 in Pasay City on Thursday night.

Vaccination czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said the supply, which arrived at about 6 p.m. on Philippine Airlines flight PR 359, will supplement the NCR’s request for an additional four million doses during the ECQ, which runs from Aug. 6 to 20.

Galvez also stated that supplies will be boosted in other places such as Laguna, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Metro Davao, Metro Cebu, Cagayan de Oro City, Iloilo, Aklan, Apayao, and areas of the Ilocos region.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr., Laguna, Iloilo City, and Cagayan de Oro would also be subject to ECQ, while Cavite, Lucena City, Rizal, and Iloilo Province will be subject to modified ECQ.

As of August 4, a total of 22,488,705 Covid-19 vaccine doses had been provided nationwide since the start of the distribution in March, with 10,282,152 vaccines already having two shots.

By the end of this month, 22.7 million vaccines doses are expected to be acquired by the government and secured through foreign donations.
