MANILA – The National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF) reported that 35,838,964 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been delivered nationwide as of September 5.
According to the NTF report on Tuesday, a total of 15,033,354 people have now received two doses, while 20,805,610 have received the first dose.
The total doses provided in the 27th week of the national immunization program was 2,739,572, with an average daily jab completion of 391,367 doses in the past seven days.
The Philippines’ vaccines stockpile already reaches 52,792,130 doses.
The government intends to vaccinate 70% of the eligible adult population, or 77,139,058 Filipinos, out of the country’s total population of 110,198,654.
Once population protection is accomplished, the government will consider pediatric immunization and booster shots.
NTF chief and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. previously stated that the World Health Organization has not yet authorized the use of booster shots in the Philippines.
Local experts are also evaluating the possibility of implementing them.
“But once they give us the cue that boosters are needed, we will process and arrange the procurement,” Galvez said in a previous interview.
