MANILA – The fourth and last National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for this year will be held on November 11, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
“Magsisimula ang programa nang alas otso nang umaga at isasagawa ang ceremonial pressing of the button nang ganap na alas nuwebe na hudyat ng ating pagda-duck, cover, and hold! (The program will start at 8 a.m. and we will conduct the ceremonial pressing of the button at exactly 9 a.m. which will signal the start of our duck, cover, and hold (exercises),” the agency said in a Facebook post on Monday night.
Due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, in-person earthquake drills are currently on hold.
The first and second quarters of this year’s NSED were held on March 11 and June 10, respectively, while the third was scheduled on September 16.
The event will be livestreamed on the Facebook pages of Civil Defense PH and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, where viewers may do the “duck, cover, and hold” gesture in their houses and offices as the ceremonial alarm sounds.
