MANILA – The National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 said on Tuesday that more than 24 million people in the Philippines have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

In the pre-recorded Talk to the People of President Rodrigo Duterte, NTF chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. stated that 24,498,753 Filipinos, or approximately 31.76 percent of the country’s eligible population, had been fully vaccinated.

Galvez stated that the Philippines has distributed 52.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines across the country, of which 28.2 million received their first doses.

He stated that the government intends to increase its vaccination rollout to 1.5 million shots every day by the end of the year in order to inoculate at least 50% of the country’s target population.

He claimed that supply is no longer a concern this time because about 38 million Covid-19 vaccine doses are stored in government facilities.

“Right now supply is not anymore an issue. We have more than 38 million doses in our warehouses,” Galvez said.

He added that the current issue is related to logistics, as it takes seven to nine days to distribute Covid-19 doses from warehouses to vaccine sites.
