MANILA – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) issued a public warning on Thursday, specifically against the selling of fake appointment forms for the processing of paperwork for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Many applicants have been scammed by unscrupulous individuals selling fake appointment paperwork for the processing of verification or certification of OFW records, according to a Facebook post by the agency.

“Many applicants have been caught holding fake appointment forms they say they bought from some employees of recruitment agencies and computer shops,” it said.

It went on to say that in these cases, either the name or the date on the appointment form is changed in the documents.

Meanwhile, the POEA advised job seekers that the real appointment form is free and available on its website.

“The free and genuine appointment form is only available at ofwrecords.poea.gov.ph,” it said.

Moreover, the agency announced that anybody involved in the forgery of official government documents will face criminal penalties.
