MANILA – The National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19 announced on Thursday that the national massive vaccination drive in the country dubbed “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” will continue for two more days.
The National Vaccine Operations Center (NVOC) has been requested by various local government units (LGUs) to extend the three-day Covid-19 vaccination drive because a “large” number of people are still flocking to the vaccination sites to get coronavirus vaccine, according to an advisory from the NTF.
As a result, the NTF permitted the LGUs to continue their respective “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” drive until Friday.
If any LGUs seek to extend the vaccination period that began on November 29, they must notify the Centers for Health Development.
Similarly, the Regional and Local Vaccination Operations Centers (RVOC) are tasked to facilitate resource expansion and technical assistance.
They are also in charge of ensuring that sufficient vaccines are allocated and that ancillary supplies are distributed to the LGUs.
Meanwhile, the NVOC has yet to give an official count of vaccine throughput during the three-day “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” immunization event, which took place from Monday to Wednesday.
The government intended to deliver 9 million doses of coronavirus vaccines around the country at 8,000 inoculation sites.
