MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) will help the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in conducting mock polls on December 29, allowing the force to witness the actual process flow for May 2022 elections.
PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said in a statement on Sunday that the activity would assist them identify and analyze the strategic plan for personnel deployment.
“We will be waiting for the official advisory from (the) Comelec regarding the planned mock elections. But definitely, the PNP is willing to extend assistance for this activity,” he said.
The PNP personnel are not allowed to enter the various voting precincts under the Omnibus Election Code, but are instead tasked to preserve peace and order in the vicinity.
The PNP will also be in charge of securing the transportation of ballots and other election-related materials.
The mock polls, which will be conducted in various locations across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, will be a complete demonstration of the entire process.
