MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday declared the third run of the Bayanihan, Bakunahan, an extensive government Covid-19 vaccination campaign, will be held on February 10 and 11.

According to Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje, the aim of this drive is to intensify vaccination coverage in places where the vaccination is low, particularly among senior citizens.

“It should be nationwide but we will prioritize the areas that need an additional boost to increase their vaccination coverage,” she said in a Laging Handa briefing.

“We are doing it on February 10 and 11 nationwide to encourage those who have yet to receive their first dose as well as boosters. It’s important to ramp up our vaccination for A2 and A3 priority groups,” she added.

Cabotaje stated that only 60 to 70 percent of senior citizens have been immunized against Covid-19 so far since its rollout last year.

The first three-day massive vaccination campaign, which took place from November 29 to December 3 last year, was lauded as a success, with around 9.9 million individuals were immunized.

Meanwhile, over 7.4 million doses were provided during its second run from December 15 to 17 despite the difficulties caused by the devastation of Typhoon Odette.

Across the country, around 59,389,080 people have already been fully vaccinated, while more than 60 million are waiting for their second shots. As of February 2, a total of 7,704,701 have also received their booster shots.
