DOH logs over 65K dengue cases from January to July

MANILA – According to the Department of Health, a total of 65,190 dengue cases are recorded from January 1 to July 2 of this year.

The agency stated that this year’s cases are 83 percent higher compared to the reported cases during the same period in 2021 at 35,715.

Most dengue cases, DOH added, were from Region III with 9,448 at 14 percent; Region VII with 7,771 at 12 percent; and Region IX with 5,708 at 9 percent.

DOH mentioned that in the recent period, from June 5 to July 2 where 16,324 cases were recorded, the region with the highest number of cases were Region III with 3,196 at 20 percent; National Capital Region with 1,729 at 11 percent and Region VII with 1,703 at 10 percent.

DOH revealed that 13 out of 17 regions have already surpassed the epidemic threshold in the past four weeks from June 5 to July 2, 2022 with Regions III, MIMAROPA, V, VI, IX, XI, XII, BARMM and CAR showing a sustained increasing trend from June 5 to July 2, 2022.

There were 274 fatalities reported across the country due to dengue with a case fatality rate of 0.4 percent. The deaths were reported in January with 36; February with 32; March with 39; April with 46; May with 63; and June with 58.
