MANILA – Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio urged administration supporters to help President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in carrying out the initiatives he outlined during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Duterte-Carpio convened with pro-Marcos groups on IBP Road in Quezon City on Monday, immediately after the Chief Executive delivered his first SONA at Batasang Pambansa.
“Sana, magtulong-tulong tayo sa pagpapatupad ng lahat ng nilatag ng Pangulo ng ating bansa (Hopefully, we will be united in executing the plans outlined by the President of our country),” she said, addressing the 20,000 strong crowd at the “Kilos Suporta para sa Pagbangon at Pagkakaisa – PBBM SONA.”
The Vice President also thanked those who supported the BBM-Sara tandem in the 2022 national elections.
Marcos and Duterte-Carpio won after getting over 30 million votes each, the biggest mandate so far in recent Philippine elections.
“Thank you for supporting PBBM in his State of the Nation Address. And thank you for helping the BBM-Sara UniTeam in the last elections,” Duterte-Carpio said in her brief speech.
“We are all praying that we won’t fail in our recovery efforts for our country,” she added.
President Marcos also cited economic recovery efforts and health systems capacity-building among the priority programs in his SONA, amid the continuing threat of Covid-19.
Moreover, he vowed to prioritize projects in agriculture, infrastructure, education, internet connectivity, arts and culture, among others.
