MANILA – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed businessman Alejandro “Al” Tengco as chairperson and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).

In a press release, Pagcor confirmed Tengco’s appointment.

He will succeed Andrea Domingo who was appointed by former President Rodrigo Duterte in 2016.

Tengco, a former vice mayor of Malolos, Bulacan, is the owner of Nationstar Development Corp.

His appointment took place more than a month after Malacañang denied rumors that attorney George Erwin Garcia was chosen by Marcos to lead the state-run gaming company.

Marcos also appointed attorney Juanito L. Saosa, Jr. as president and chief operating officer of Pagcor.

He also selected former Cavite Rep. Gilbert Remulla, engineer Francis Democrito Concordia, and Jose Maria Ortega as members of the Pagcor board of directors.

After supposedly taking his oath at Malacaan Palace, Remulla uploaded a photo of himself wearing a barong on his official Twitter account.

“And so the new chapter begins,” he said in his tweet.
