DOH logs more than 1,800 new Covid-19 cases

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Sunday stated that a total of 1,858 new Covid-19 cases were detected in the country.

Based on the latest data of the DOH, the tally of active cases across the country has increased to 19,176.

With 2,849 new infections in the past two weeks, Metro Manila remained the city with the highest rate. It was followed by Calabarzon with 1,685, Western Visayas with 1,367, Central Luzon with 1,011; and Central Visayas with 915.

Hospital bed occupancy rate was at 24.4 percent. According to the DOH, 6,940 beds are currently occupied while 21,526 beds are vacant.

As a result, the healthcare utilization rate in the country remains at low-risk category.

Since the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 virus in March 2020, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 infections has jumped to 4,018,253. The tally of cases includes 3,934,690 recoveries and 64,387 deaths.

House committees to hold hearings during break
